Roinebhal Country House. Luxury Bed & Breakfast in Argyll, Scotland
Festive Greetings! - Christmas 2015
After returning from our 10 day break down in London at the end of November I realised it was time to start preparing for Christmas and so my newsletter is perhaps the first thing on my list. The writing of it never seems to be the problem but getting help with the photo collage and the actual drop e-mail sorted before my Christmas cards are posted always leads to being a problem. Most people these days have e-mail who don’t need a printed newsletter in with their Christmas card.
We had a great catch up with friends in London along with a whirl-wind visit of the city. We spent a day at the O2 where we managed to get in as VIP’s, and as well as seeing the players win and lose their matches we managed to meet a few too. We stayed in Fulham for 4 nights with friends Elisabeth and Jess who showed us Fulham Palace then took us to St Mary’s where the Putney debates took place. We went up The Walky Talky, had a meal in the oldest eating establishment, saw the Cutty Sark and visited The V&A Museum. We also managed a visit to Portsmouth to see The Warrior, The Victory and the amazing exhibit of the Mary Rose and its contents (a must see for anyone visiting this part of the world). We visited Essex to spend an evening with Karen and Paul and went out to the island of Mersea eating at a wonderful sea food café, then on our last day before leaving had lunch with the Satur family who we hadn’t seen in such a long time. Apart from all the above, we managed to spend some quality time with Ben and Kim who both seem quite happy with their busy lives.
During our visit, Kim was holding an exhibition for Patricia Cain one of the artists who she represents. This meant she was busy during the day but could spend time with us in the evenings. We managed to stay a few nights with her and see the wonderful accommodation she is sharing with her friend Laura. It is a large renovated space in an old Hackney college which has been turned into a 2 bedroom luxury flat. With Laura’s qualification of interior design and Kim’s art pieces it all makes for a beautiful place to stay.
Ben is still living in Peckham and working with Killing Moon, the record label company he has been with for the past 18 months or so. In the Autumn he got to fly out to Vancouver, Victoria and Winnipeg to attend a couple of music festivals. Washington Irving is about to release their new album which was recorded in New York at the end of last year, and have just finished another tour of the U.K.
Jenny has had a busy time in Sweden this year including drawing at The Polar Music Prize, The Sound of Stockholm and also spoke in front of 1600 employees of Europe’s 4th biggest I.T. company while projecting her live iPad-illustrations on stage. She and Mattias will be joining us for Christmas via London, bringing Kim and Ben with them on the 23rd.
We are also looking forward to another special guest - Mandy from Germany, one of our workawayers in 2011, is coming over for her first Christmas in the UK and her very first Hogmanay!
Mum is now 95 years of age and faring incredibly well. She enjoyed having my brother over for his annual visit and had the Yorkshire part of the family up twice this year staying. While we were in London, she had Mary (an old friend and neighbour from Carradale) looking after her. Apart from Mum, Mary also took care of the family pet MacDuff. Together they seemingly had a great time and got through quite a number of scrabble games while MacDuff enjoyed his daily walks.
We have finally put the house on the market and will be selling it along with the business and the 2 house plots. It doesn’t mean to say that we will sell straight away and we are in no rush to do so.
We will continue to offer bed and breakfast for at least another season and hope to see some of you back for a visit.
If anyone would like to catch up with the rest of our news it is available via our website www.roineabhal.com on the newsletter section. I try and update it every 4 months or so. We are also always posting things on Facebook which a lot of you already know about and visit frequently.
We wish you a wonderful time over the festive season.
Love from the Soep Clan X
