Roinebhal Country House. Luxury Bed & Breakfast in Argyll, Scotland
Autumn 2017I’ve been finding it hard to get the autumn newsletter written! Apart from having a busier October than normal with houseguests we have had a lot of friends and relatives visit too. Thankfully Bre and Andrew are still with us from Arizona in the States, who have been helping since the end of September. They replaced Adela and Dada who I still miss immensely and who I hope will return to visit one day soon.
It was lovely to have Nina and the girls stay for a couple of nights from B.C. (relatives of my brother’s from Canada). Nina sadly lost Angus her husband in March and was back to lay his ashes at Craig, a small croft lost in the middle of the forest outside Dalavich where Angus lived as a small child. The day chosen couldn’t have been better and after a little adventure and a small diversion we finally found it. We finished the day in our local inn where we had a splendid meal and toasted a fond farewell to Angus.
The next day we all travelled up to Rannoch and whilst Roger and I snuck away for an evening and spent it at the hotel, Nina and the girls stayed with Jenny and Bill who run the tea room at the Station and who are also relations. We managed a lovely walk before being treated by Jenny to a delicious and welcome lunch at the tearoom. There was also the added bonus of seeing deer visit the area close by in the evening.
It is certainly a do-able day trip from here on the train from Bridge of Orchy and very much recommended. We have had a couple of guests who have gone all the way up to Mallaig and back this year. The tea-room is open seasonally and offers wonderful home baking and light lunches.
We are now officially closed for the year. My brother is over visiting from Canada so to make life easier Mum is staying for a week or so too. She is going to be joined by Mary who is dog and house sitting whilst we are away on holiday, and they’ll both attend the much loved ‘musical memories’ sing-song event every Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile we have booked 2 weeks in The Gambia and are both looking forward to lots of sunshine and reading a book or two.
